COMPETITION STAGES AND REPERTOIRE

The Competition consists of a Pre-selection, First Stage, Semi-Final and Final rounds. The last three rounds are open to the public.

PRE-SELECTION: Only one YouTube video recording link by the contestant, or similar system, containing two or more pieces of free choice and different styles from 10 to 15 minutes total length. Quality of video and audio should be as good as possible taken from a few meters distance, showing full body with hands and face clearly visible. Mobile phones, cameras or studio recordings are all welcome as long as they provide enough quality. This recording can be made at present but previous video recordings will be also accepted. You can also put different recordings together in only one YouTube link.

A maximum of 50 pianists will be selected to take part in the Semi-Final. The Organizing Committee will announce the 50 selected contestants by October 24th. Each selected contestant will submit only one video recording for each round with the entire program (total two recordings) by November 24th.

Every contestant should introduce himself/herself before performing by telling his/her name, the specific round (Semi-Final or Final) and XIV Campillos International Piano Competition. And then perform the entire program of each round right away in two different recordings like if they were two recitals with no cuts or editing.

The deadline for submitting these two video recordings is November 24th. We will only accept one submission for each round. Changes will not be allowed.

FIRST STAGE: A performance lasting no longer than 15 minutes containing a program of free choice.

The number of candidates admitted to the Semi-Final will not be more than 15.

SEMI-FINAL: A performance lasting no longer than 30 minutes containing a program of free choice.

The number of candidates admitted to the Final will not be more than 3.

FINAL: A performance with the Orquesta Sinfónica Provincial de Málaga (OSPM) of one piano concerto included in the following list:

-W. A. Mozart:           No. 20 in D minor K 466 / No. 21 in C major K 467

-L. van Beethoven:     No. 3 in C minor Op. 37 / No. 5 in E-flat major Op. 73

-R. Schumann:            in A minor Op. 54

-F. Chopin:                  No 2 in F minor Op. 21

The Artistic Committee and Jury members will take into consideration the variety and difficulty of the whole program of the competition. All works must be edited and it is not allowed to perform own works by the contestants (except the cadenzas of the W. A. Mozart concertos).

No work may be repeated. Only the pieces recorded in the Pre-selection may be repeated in one of the other rounds of the competition.

No program changes will be allowed after October 31st.

All the works must be performed by heart.

The Jury may interrupt the performance if the maximum timing for each round is exceeded.
